CELC SYMPOSIUM ON
TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS OF
FLAX AND HEMP
In Prague on Friday, 20 October 2006, a symposium will be held on technical applications of flax and hemp, organised by CELC (Council European pour Lin et Chanvre).
The numeroues properties of flax and hemp (resiliency, lightness, recyclability and environmentally friendly) are attracting more and more the building, automotive and plasturgy industries.
The increasing use of these natural fibres which are primarily known for their textile applications, offers tremendous prospects for diversification, namely in composites.
In order to define and to develop thsoe new outlets, a recently founded section of CELC, 'Technical Application' (chaired by Benoit Savourat, with Jan Demeulenaere as vice-president) analyses the markets, stimulates R&D and enhances the European flax and hemp supply.
This first Prague symposium will be led by international experts from the flax/linen industry, researchers from the universtities of Leuven, Ghent and Bretagne Sud. specialists from fibre covering units, building and automotive industry branches, and the European Commission.
Attendance is free to all concerend professionals of the building, automotive and plasturgy industries.
